Job responsibilities include working with a team of developers to create and extend a HTML5 platform designed to aggregate scientific data and provide overarching command and control functions.

The Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL), has its primary facility on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada with a satellite facility at Andrews Air Force Base just outside of Washington D.C.

The Remote Sensing Laboratory is focused on the creation and fielding of technologies to make measurements from a distance in support of radiological emergency response, non-­‐proliferation and counterterrorism. It is best known for its extensive response to the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi accident. Additional potential research locations are at: North Las Vegas, Nevada; Los Alamos and Albuquerque in New Mexico; plus Santa Barbara and Livermore in California. NSTec works closely with DOE/NNSA, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and other agencies to improve national security in a number of mission areas, which include:

  • Counter Terrorism Operations Support – Training our nation’s first responders for CBRNE events,

  • Radiological crisis response to detect and prevent radiological or nuclear terrorism,

  • Radiological consequence management to assess the extent and severity of a nuc/rad incident,

  • Securing nuclear materials from terrorist and criminals both in the US and abroad,

  • Prevention of nuclear proliferation to rogue states and terrorist organizations,

  • Detection of non-­‐radiological threats in support of counterterrorism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Work experience in software development is a plus, but because they are junior positions is not required.

  • Experience designing and developing interactive web technologies. More specifically, the use of HTML5 and JavaScript for developing interactive, data-driven web applications.

  • Familiarity with MSSQL and Azure would be beneficial.

  • Local candidates desired.
