POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Sitter functions under the supervision of a first line supervisor and performs delegated functions. Duties include: sitting/monitoring patients in person that are "High Risk for Falls" and/or risk of injury to self or others. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over life span and possesses ability to collect data reflective of patient status and report to registered nurse. Completes a competency skills checklist within 3 months of employment.
Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Provides services to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The Patient Sitter will perform duties and responsibilities of all lesser included jobs and performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Graduate from high school or high school equivalent program. Current Basic Life Support.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to successfully accommodate a proper respirator fit by maintaining a clean-shaven face. (Infection Control Policy IX, Fit Testinq), based on OSHA standards reads: "Employees required to wear a respirator will be fitted properly and tested for a face seal prior to use. The manufacturer provides fitting instructions and use limitations on the product packaging. Respirators should not be used with beards or other facial hair that prevents direct contact between the face and the edge of the respirator."
