SALARY is $46,311.84 to $68,674.32 PAY GRADE: 34
Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; and provide counseling and advocacy services for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Rehabilitation Counselor 2 is on a team that works with a specialty caseload, serving those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. The duties include meeting with clients, completing intakes, determining eligibility, providing vocational counseling and guidance, completing Individualized Plans for Employment and providing services focused on assisting our clients with securing employment. To adequately serve this specialty caseload of Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers, a counselor who is fluent in American Sign Language and has knowledge of Deaf Culture is required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science and one year of professional experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor, or similar occupation, which must have included making eligibility, ineligibility and employment outcome determinations by applying federal, state and agency regulations, policies and procedures for a public vocational rehabilitation or similar program; negotiating and resolving conflicts; and performing community outreach public relations activities for an assigned program; OR two years of experience as a Rehabilitation Counselor I in Nevada State service.; OR an equivalent combination of education at or above a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience as described above.
Additional Position Experience
1)This position requires one year of experience in a rehabilitation setting as listed above in the Minimum Requirements.
