This position is that of a Part-Time WG-4, Food Service Worker (Call Center), working and rotating through early, late, or relief shifts. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Perform duties that require proficiency in special procedures and broad knowledge of service operations, such as food preparation, dish washing, dry and refrigerated storage, and food and beverage serving;
Make final check of trays assembled by lower grade workers for accuracy and completeness, correct food temperature, and to verify that food items on tray are appropriate for the prescribed diet;
Use a computer terminal to record and retrieve recipes, menu, and inventory data to produce print-outs of such information for various work units in the kitchen;
Assist lower grade employees and provide training on technical work matters; and
Record nourishment inventories, replace expired bulk items, label and distribute individual nourishments to appropriate patients or nursing stations.
Transcribes and maintains corrections, changes, menus, electronic cardex, meal tickets and/or electronic orders or requests.
Affixes labels and other information, which includes patient name, date, and location of patient on individual patient tray delivery slips.
Prints supplemental feeding list with patient information for transport with nourishments.
Ability to read, write, make accurate mathematical calculations, and follow written and oral instructions.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position requires performance of work which involves light to moderate physical effort. Subject to continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending for the majority of the work day. Frequently required to perform heavy work, such as scouring and scrubbing large-size cooking utensils and pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. Frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in kitchen areas where the steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often causes uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. Work areas are well lighted, but may be noisy from food service activities. Spillage of food and/or beverages may cause danger of slipping on floors. Food service workers are regularly exposed to hot liquids and sharp cutting blades. Exposure to extreme temperature changes will occur upon entering and exiting walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
Your background must demonstrate experience in a variety of food service duties, such as Call Center Techniques which requires Knowledge of advanced food preparation. Applying knowledge of general sanitation principles to safeguard food against spoilage and waste; assure tray appearance is acceptable in color, quantity, aesthetics, etc.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C (www.opm.gov/qualifications/x-118c).
